About Madelyn

I’m the Rev. Madelyn Campbell. I am a middle-aged mother, grandmother, and, as of June 2013, a widow.  I have nine children and nine grandchildren, and I definitely miss my husband.  I started writing his blog when he couldn’t do it anymore, and now I’ve decided to continue with my own.

I was born and raised in and around New York City, and while I’ve lived in northern Virginia since 1987, I’m still a New Yorker.  I’m a big fan of Doctor Who and Harry Potter, and I’m a Bible geek.  In May, 2014, I was graduated with a Master of Divinity from Wesley Theological Seminary. I am an ordained minister and have preliminary fellowship with the Unitarian Universalist Association, although I was raised as a nice Jewish girl.  I’m both/and – Jewish and Christian. My Judaism informs my Christianity, but not the other way around.

I like to write, and I have opinions on…most things.  My favorite number is Phi, but I don’t think I’ll ever wax poetic about a graphing calculator.  That was my husband’s bailiwick.

  1. Enjoying reading your blog and looking forward to hearing you preach at my UUCF Frederick tomorrow! Please check our frederickuu.org website home page before you venture out here tomorrow–they’ve already cancelled the early (9:15) service due to snow conditions. I was out and about around 1 pm today and the roads were a big mess–and it’s supposed to snow/ice all night–but only add an inch? On the other hand, I’m reading that the snowplows will make everything wonderful by morning. So please check? Thanks, and welcome! (Or come back soon.) Nancy Pace

    • Flattered that you’ve found my blog. I’m all hooked in to the alerts so I’ll know about church in the morning – but I have faith and every hope of being there for worship. Looking forward to being with all of you.

  2. I read your blog on your friend that went to camp with you at winnemucca. I am so sorry for your loss I was very interested in finding that camp because I also went there in that time frame. I too had my own horse for the summer name trick track. I also knew of muffin who was a large pony and it was a bay. We got to learn how to jump and go to a local jumping event. I could never find this camp
